A package leaflet states what is in a vaccine and how it should be used. It also includes lots of information on possible side effects. The package leaflet lists all the symptoms you may experience after being vaccinated. Links to the vaccine information leaflets are provided at the bottom of this page.

How a symptom is added to the vaccine information leaflet

If someone has a symptom after receiving the vaccine, the manufacturer has to include it in the package leaflet. Sometimes a symptom only happens once. In such cases, it often is uncertain if that symptom was caused by the vaccination.

2 vaccines in use

For some vaccinations, there are 2 vaccines in use. There are two reasons that this could happen:

  • We are switching from one vaccine to a new vaccine.
  • The manufacturer is unable to supply a specific vaccine, so we buy a vaccine from a different manufacturer. This alternative vaccine offers the same standard of protection as the other vaccine. Their quality is the same.

If you want to know which vaccine your child is getting, ask at the well-baby clinic. Ideally, you should contact the location where your child will be vaccinated.

Vaccine factsheet

All the vaccines included in the National Immunisation Programme are listed below. There are also links to the vaccine factsheets, where you can read more about all the benefits and drawbacks of the vaccine. A ‘vaccine factsheet’ is an addendum to the official package leaflet. These Dutch factsheets were made by the Medicines Evaluation Board (CBG-MEB).
